10 Spider-Man Characters Who Could Headline The Female Spin-Off Movie
10. Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)
Who Is She? Jessica Drew is the first Spider-Woman, created because Stan Lee was worried some other company would create their own version of Spider-Woman. Jessica Drew has something of a complicated origin. At first, she was an actual spider evolved into a human by the High Evolutionary. Later this was retconned to her being a human injected with a serum based on irradiated spider DNA and placed in a genetic accelerator. Another retcon followed, establishing that her mother was hit with a laser beam containing DNA traits of several different species of spider while she was pregnant with Jessica. Initially a HYDRA agent, Drew defects upon learning their true nature and becomes Spider-Woman. Later in her career, she loses her powers and becomes a private investigator. Eventually, Jessica regains her powers and joins the latest incarnation of the Avengers, where she has been ever since. Likelihood? Many outlets have been speculating that the movie will feature Jessica Drew, but this is highly unlikely. Unlike characters like Batgirl or Supergirl, Spider-Woman actually has no real connection with Spider-Man beyond their names. Marvels Ultimate Spider-Man comic, set in an alternate universe, created a female clone of Peter Parker who took on the name Jessica Drew. But this single storyline may not be enough for Sony to claim the rights to Spider-Man also include Spider-Woman, a character who has rarely interacted with him. Jessica has a much longer standing with the Avengers and even the X-Men than she does with Spider-Man. And a movie about the Ultimate version may be problematic as she would literally be Peter Parker with boobs.
