10 Spider-Man Characters Who Could Headline The Female Spin-Off Movie
9. Spider-Woman / Arachne (Julia Carpenter)
Who Is She? A secret government group called The Commission injected single mother Julia Carpenter with a mixture of spider venom and exotic plant extracts, which granted her superhuman powers similar to Spider-Man. Becoming the second Spider-Woman, Julia first started working for the government but later left their service and became a member of the West Coast Avengers and Force Works. She later retired after her powers were taken away, but regained them through unexplained means. With her powers restored, Julia returned to superheroics under the name Arachne. When psychic Madame Web was near death, she transferred her powers and blindness to Julia, who then became the new Madame Web. Likelihood? Julias origin could be tied into Oscorps work with the government as established in ASM2, and having a movie about a superheroine who is also a single mother would be an interesting twist. But like with Jessica, the question is whether Sony could claim they have the rights to Julia. Although Julia does have more of a connection with Spidey than Jessica, shes also got an even stronger connection with the Avengers, having been a member of the team. This could mean a situation thats similar to Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch between Fox and Marvel, where both can claim the characters and will have certain restrictions if they decide to use them.
