10 Spider-Man Characters Who Could Headline The Female Spin-Off Movie

7. Spider-Girl (May Parker)

Who Is She? No, not Aunt May, so nobody€™s expecting Sally Field to strap on some web-shooters. This is May €œMayday€ Parker, the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in a potential future. In the comics, Mary Jane was pregnant and apparently had a miscarriage, but it was left ambiguous whether the baby actually died. In the world of the Spider-Girl comics, the child was kidnapped but rescued by Kaine (a clone of Peter Parker) and returned to the Parkers. She developed similar powers to her father when she was a teenager and donned the costume worn by her €œUncle Ben€ (the Scarlet Spider, another clone of Peter who was killed by the Green Goblin). The series is notable for being Marvel€™s longest-running female-led superhero title, and survived several cancellation attempts by a very active fanbase. Likelihood? On the one hand, Mayday€™s popularity in the comics could translate to the movies. But on the other, it€™s a similar problem with the Spider-Verse€”it€™s not likely Sony will have a series of Spidey movies set in the present and another series set in the future. The alternate universe aspect would be crucial to a Mayday Spider-Girl movie, unless of course Sony decided to launch this film once they were finished with Spider-Man films. But that hardly seems likely.
