10 Spider-Man Villains Sony Should Keep (& 10 They Should Lend To The MCU)
1. KEEP: Hobgoblin
With Ned Leeds as MCU Peter's best friend and Norman Osborn a shoo-in for the MCU, Sony should retain control of the other goblin. A Green Goblin/Hobgoblin showdown would be an awesome visual, but there’s no need to have two goblins in the MCU for the foreseeable future.
The MCU will surely take liberties with Norman Osborn, leaving Sony to tell a fantastic goblin tale of their own. They just simply need to let Jason Macendale and Roderick Kingsley have their fun.
Both took on the mantel of Hobgoblin — Kingsley also brainwashed Ned Leeds and Arnold Donovan into committing crimes as the Hobgoblin as well. If Sony sticks with the anti-hero theme and comic origins, they can't go wrong.
Have an incarcerated Jason Macendale — originally a rejected CIA agent turned costumed terrorist known as Jack O’Lantern — sent by the government on a mission to take down Kingsley…only to assume the mantle of the Hobgoblin and continue his reign of terror.
