10 Star Trek Cameos You (Probably) Missed

6. Bill Hader - Star Trek Into Darkness

Bill Hader
Sony Pictures

Bill Hader may still be best known for his SNL appearances, though he is an excellent actor in his own right. His turn as Richie Tozier in IT: Chapter 2 was probably the strongest performance in the film, so it may come as a surprise that he had a minuscule role in Star Trek Into Darkness. In fact, the role was pretty much a favour to J.J. Abrams at the eleventh hour.

Hader voices the computer of the USS Vengeance, with his lines being recorded in a rush as the release date approached. He was working in Las Vegas for CinemaCon when Abrams called him in a panic, stating that they desperately needed an additional voice and asked if he could do it at short notice.

Hader agreed and he was quickly driven to a recording studio. There he did the lines, shipped them off and that was that. His voice then rained down on Khan, Marcus and the rest of the unfortunates on board the ship as it was torpedoed and kamikazeed into San Francisco. His role may have brief, but he went out with a bang.
