10 Star Trek Guest Stars Who Played Iconic Movie Characters

6. Kirsten Dunst

Dunst If While many may forget/not realise that Chris "Thor" Hemsworth himself played George Kirk in 2009's Star Trek, just two years later comic book movies were so commonplace that being a superhero on it's own just wasn't enough to be iconic anymore. Back in 2002 however, these adaptations were just beginning their second wave, and weren't nearly as established. Spider-Man was also only the third Marvel franchise to be given the full cinematic treatment, after Blade and The X-Men (unless you really want to count Howard The Duck), and so it was Kirsten Dunst's portrayal of Mary Jane Watson that truly set the standard of how a superhero's love interest should be portrayed in the 21st Century. In fact, much like the Joker and Lex Luthor in the recent Batman and Superman reboots, 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man thought it safer to leave her out of the first instalment of a new franchise, considering recasting the part to be too risky. Despite already having appeared in films such as Interview With A Vampire and Jumanji by the time Spider-Man came swinging, it was a single guest role in The Next Generation before any of these that surprises many, In Dark Page. As the name would suggest it was one of the show's darker episodes, delving into the back story of Deanna Troi, and revealed the sister she never knew she had. As with many of these episodic things though, she was never mentioned again either....
