10 Star Wars Anthology Movies That Need To Happen

So far, Disney’s Star Wars movies have explored new avenues in terms of what a Star Wars movie can be, whilst simultaneously playing it pretty safe in terms of familiar characters, settings and iconography. But what if they just went crazy, and showed us something we never thought we’d see?

There are plenty of canon and de-canonized stories set before the events of The Phantom Menace, but none stretch back quite as far as ‘Dawn of the Jedi’, a series of comic books released before Marvel took over the franchise’s comic book arm.

Set about 26,000 years before the events of A New Hope, the series focuses on the Je’daii Order, a group of Force-sensitives and precursors to the Jedi Order. The best part about these books was how they attempted to give the Force, the Jedi and the Sith their ‘Genesis’ story, a jumping off point in terms of history and motivation. They also came across as a genuine attempt to explore the grey areas of the Force, since the split between the Light and Dark sides had not yet happened.

They weren’t perfect, and they certainly weren’t accessible to your average Star Wars admirer, hence why an adaptation is very unlikely. But given that Disney’s anthologies present an opportunity to diversify and experiment with the Star Wars license, why not try something that’s completely different to anything that’s come before it?
