10 Star Wars Anthology Movies That Need To Happen

6. The Old Republic: A Star Wars Story

The Old Republic era is one of the most fruitful and dramatically interesting time periods within the Star Wars universe. It feels familiar and faithful to the original movies, and yet far enough away so as to provide a different perspective on a lot of issues.

The biggest difference is that the Republic and the Sith Empire are both huge military powerhouse, embroiled in a sort of semi-Cold War scenario in which neither party wants to act first, but they also can’t bear to see the other continuing to operate within the Galaxy.

The Knights of the Old Republic games still stand out as two of the most dramatically enticing Star Wars stories to come out of any medium, and it’s not hard to imagine them being successfully brought to screen in some form or another.

Perhaps, if Disney would rather not invest so much money in a relatively untested part of the Star Wars Legends canon, they could pursue a cheaper alternative. Maybe a series of animated movies in the same vein as DC and Marvel’s straight-to-DVD library would be smart.

Those films are often regarded as superior to their live action counterparts, and tend to satisfy the ‘hardcore’ among comic book fans. It’s an interesting avenue of production and publishing that Disney could take, and would actually bring a lot of the ideas on this list closer to fruition.
