10 Star Wars Anthology Movies That Need To Happen

5. Maul

It’s difficult to say which quiet, brooding villain of the Star Wars universe is more popular – Boba Fett, or Darth Maul? Both men have survived situations that would otherwise kill mere mortals – the former being eaten by the almighty Sarlacc, and the latter being chopped in half and thrown down a seemingly bottomless pit, and both have gained significant fan attention despite not really doing all that much within the Star Wars movies.

That could all change though, if Disney were to greenlight a Darth Maul spin-off, perhaps as an exploration of his life before or during his Sith training. He was always one of the most exciting and enigmatic parts of The Phantom Menace (although that’s an admittedly low bar to reach), so it would be interesting to see his character receive a little more depth.

Another direction would be to delve into his life post-slicing incident. Although Darth Maul’s survival might be rather hard to swallow for casual audiences (especially the part where he received mechanical spider legs), it was this arc that saw him transition from an acrobatic badass to a more fully developed anti-hero, before his reunion with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Rebels.
