10 Star Wars Characters Who Only Had One Movie To Shine
4. Qui-Gon Jinn - The Phantom Menace
With Obi-Wan Kenobi serving as Lukes mentor in the Original Trilogy, it begged the question of who trained Obi-Wan in his younger days. Enter Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon-Jinn: soft-spoken and wise, he was quite controversial compared to other Jedi Masters, and his unorthodox methods cost him a seat on the Jedi Council. However, that didnt mean he didnt know what he was doing. Throughout Episode I, he demonstrated his wisdom in difficult situations, and together with Obi-Wan, they were able to keep Queen Amidala safe and save Naboo from the Trade Federation. Unfortunately, Qui-Gon is also indirectly responsible for the galaxys most notorious Sith Lord. He immediately recognized Anakin's power and believed him to be the Chosen One. Despite the Jedi Councils refusal to train Anakin due to his age, Qui-Gon insisted that Anakin become a Jedi and even threatened to train the boy himself without the Councils approval. When he was slain by Darth Maul on Naboo, his last words were asking Obi-Wan to train Anakin. However, that wasnt the end of the quiet Jedi Master. His studies in the Force allowed him to maintain consciousness through the Force after dying, and years later he would contact Yoda from the great beyond to teach him how to accomplish this feat. Qui-Gon may not have been as memorable as memorable as Obi-Wan or Yoda, but its undeniable that he had an enormous effect the Star Wars universe. By discovering Anakin, he accidentally set into motion the events that would eventually result in the extermination of the Jedi, the rise of the Empire, and the eventual rebirth of the Republic and Jedi Order. He also discovered new depths to the Force and redefined what death was for a Force-user. Not too shabby a legacy for only appearing in one film.
