10 Star Wars Characters Who Only Had One Movie To Shine

3. General Grievous - Revenge Of The Sith

"Shine" might not be the best word for Grievous€™ appearance in Episode III. When we first met him on film, he walked into his ship€™s command deck with an asthmatic cough. We saw in The Clone Wars micro-series that Grievous got that cough after Mace Windu used the Force to damage his lungs. However, for those who did not watch the series, it was an underwhelming introduction. When Obi-Wan and Anakin eventually found him, all we saw Grievous do was yell orders at his subordinates and watch his Magnaguards fight the two Jedi. We heard he was a ruthless warrior who collected the lightsabers of Jedi he killed, but all we saw him do in the beginning of the movie was stand back and run away. It wasn€™t until Obi-Wan found him on Utapau that Grievous decided to show off his fighting skills. Unfortunately for us, it was another underwhelming experience. Whether it was time constraints or lack of a bigger budget to show off his fighting prowess, Grievous wielding four lightsabers was not impressive since all he did was twirl them fast. Those extra limbs and cybernetic implants should have helped him, but in less than a minute he lost two hands; the same guy who fought five Jedi with only two hands in the cartoon! What Grievous lacked in lightsaber skills (which is surprising since he was trained by Count Dooku), he made up for as a brawler. He nearly beat Obi-Wan to a pulp and was only defeated when the Jedi shot him with a blaster. So uncivilized. The 2008 Clone Wars series redeemed Grievous somewhat by showing him as a more capable fighter. This was likely because the animation gave the writers and producers more freedom with what they could show him doing. The show also featured multiple fights between Grievous and Obi-Wan, which might explain why the cyborg had a hard time against the Jedi Master. However, for just a single film appearance, Grievous left a lot to be desired.
