One of the more intriguing and mysterious images from the set is of two rusty machines sat inside what appears to be the rickety remains of a pod racer. The two robots strongly resemble a red version of R2-D2, and bear a decent similarity to R5-D4 as well (aside from the head being completely different), a machine that was notorious for being prone to malfunctioning, which would explain why it's stuck on the rust pile. On the other hand, perhaps these are just non-descript droids that may not even appear in the final cut of the movie. Still, images like this help build up the movie's mood and atmosphere, and even if this sight doesn't end up in the final film, it's a testament to the absurd level of detail that Abrams and his fantastic production team appear to be putting into one of the most anticipated films of all time.
