10 Star Wars Expanded Universe Stories Every Fan Should Read

4. Blood Ties - A Tale Of Jango And Boba Fett

Blood Ties1 Jango and Boba Fett: father and son, and two of the most bad-ass characters the Star Wars movies have produced. Jango was not only an efficient bounty hunter, but the template for the original clone troopers. Boba Fett...well, his actions speak for themselves. As the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, it's only fair that they get their own comic story. This multigenerational tale explores a story that begins with Jango, but continues with Boba decades later. Plot-wise, the comic focuses on a bounty that Count Dooku hires Jango to deal with. Bringing his son Boba along with him, Jango soon finds out what the target is, and although he's a man who always finishes a job, he's left with mixed feelings about the assassination he carried out. Years later, Boba will deal with his own problems when he finds out that a bounty he took has ties to the one his father carried out all those years ago. What's most important about this story is the relationship between father and son. As the titles suggest, blood ties can sometimes stand against anything else the universe throws at us. We watch as Jango trains his "son" to become an efficient bounty hunter, and while he may put Boba through some crazy scenarios, we see that Jango truly does love him. Years later, Boba will apply these lessons to his own predicament and try to live by the same standards his father imparted on him. I know this sounds sentimental for a story about ruthless bounty hunters, but make no mistake: this comic should not be missed if you're craving more Jango and Boba action.
