One of the three main villains of the 2004 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, Darth Nihilus takes up a place alongside Darth Sion and Darth Treya as the Sith Triumvirate. Of the three, however, Darth Nihilus is easily the fan favourite character.

Originally a simple human living on the planet Malachor V, he was one of the only survivors as a superweapon called the Mass Shadow Generator. The weapon destroyed his physical body, but his strong connection to the Dark Side allowed his existence to continue. He became the apprentice of Darth Treya, along with Darth Sion, and the trio continued the work of Darth Revan’s Sith Empire in the annihilation of the Jedi Order.

He was ultimately betrayed by Darth Treya, who while posing as a Jedi named Kreia lured him into a trap. He faced off against Meetra Surik, the Jedi Exile, and was defeated and killed. Despite not being the most important character to the game, he is still a very popular addition to the Legends continuity and a character that many fans hope will eventually make some appearance in the new canon if Disney ever decides to explore the Old Republic Era.
