10 Star Wars Legends Characters We Desperately Want To Return
3. Kyle Katarn
Imperial Stormtrooper turned Jedi Master, Kyle Katarn is the main protagonist of 1995’s Star Wars: Dark Forces, 1997’s Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and 2002’s Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. He also appeared as a non-playable character in the 2003’s Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, as well as in a variety of novels and comics.
Kyle Katarn originally trained as a Stormtrooper for the Galactic Empire, however he defected to the Rebel Alliance to help stop the Dark Trooper Project with a smuggler named Jan Ors. After this, he discovered that he was Force sensitive and travelled to the Valley of the Jedi to hone his skills. This led him into contact with a Dark Jedi named Jerroc, who attempted to convert him to the Dark Side. Katarn was able to defeat Jerroc, however, and went on to be trained by Luke Skywalker before becoming an instructor at the Jedi Academy of the New Jedi Order.
Kyle Katarn is a fan favourite character to many gamers and Star Wars fans from the 1990s, specifically due to being brought to life in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II by actor Jason Court in a variety of live action cutscenes. Currently in canon, he is only referenced in the form of a Trading Card from the ‘Galactic Ambitions’ expansion of Star Wars: The Card Game. Many fans would love Katarn to appear in a more prominent role in canon in the future.
