10 Star Wars Scenes Even More Impressive When You Know The Truth
4. Andy Serkis Taped His Face For Snoke - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
Never one to shy away from going the extra mile for the sake of delivering a truly mesmerising performance, motion capture menace Andy Serkis was at it again during his stint as part of the Sequel Trilogy.
And while the Gollum legend may not have been afforded as much screen-time as fans may have hoped in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi as Supreme Leader Snoke, that still didn't stop Serkis from putting a committed shift in behind-the-scenes.
With the unsettling Force-user very much being burdened by some rather horrific facial injuries that resulted in the left side of his face being completely "mauled", the actor decided to restrict his own mug in a similar fashion in order to produce as authentic a turn as possible.
As Serkis would explain to Entertainment Weekly:
"His jaw is completely mangled and the left side of his face is mauled. So I had a way of taping down the lefthand side of my mouth to restrict the lip movement on that side."
So, the next time you take in Serkis spitting venom at Kylo Ren in Episode VIII in particular, just remember that there was very much an actor underneath sporting a no doubt frustrating amount of facial tape during some rather explosive moments.
