10 Star Wars Scenes Even More Impressive When You Know The Truth

3. Oscar Isaac Was Slapped 27 Times On His First Day - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

Oscar Isaac was treated to one of the more painful first days on set during the making of The Last Jedi.

Standing opposite the late great Carrie Fisher throughout his first exchange since wrapping on The Force Awakens a few years earlier, what may come across as a fairly simple beat of action, being hit in the face by Leia early on, actually took quite some time to fully get in the can.

As the actor himself would confess on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, director Rian Johnson simply couldn't get enough of the emphatic whack to the chops. So much so, Isaac recalled:

"I think it ended up being 27 takes of Carrie just leaning in [mimics hard slapping]. Every time, she’d hit a different part of my face.”

Trying to react to being hit in the chops out of nowhere over and over again is actually a lot tougher than you'd expect. But instead of showing any signs of flinching or bracing himself for the inevitable repeated impact from this iconic General, Isaac authentically took the shots like a champ and later noted how "surreal" the whole experience of being consistently battered by a legendary princess unquestionably was.
