Star Wars has always possessed its fair share of utterly gorgeous looking and captivating animated delights.

Whether you grew up taking in the cartoon Droids fun of the '80s, fell in love with the pulsating Clone Wars that graced screens from 2003-2005, or routinely got lost in the 3-D brilliance that was The Clone Wars from 2008 onwards, you could always rely on Lucasfilm to deliver the animated goods even before 2013.

Yet, there's no doubting that the bar has been raised even higher over the last decade, with the sixth and seventh seasons of The Clone Wars and the Rebels animated series in particular kick-starting a new wave of absolutely marvellous Star Wars animation.

This isn't simply a case of looking the part either, which they definitely continue to do and then some. TCW, Rebels, The Bad Batch, and Tales of the Jedi have all added gripping new depth to the big-screen stories told across the timeline, with the aftermath of the Clone Wars, fall of Count Dooku, and rise of the Rebel Alliance all being masterfully explored in these series.

And that's all without even mentioning the recent anthology gift that is Star Wars: Visions, with the latest season seeing Aardman get in on the fun with a beautifully crafted slice of non-canon joy.
