10 Status Updates On Iconic Horror Movie Franchises

What's Going On? Unless you're a true die-hard fan of the franchise, it will likely come as a huge shock to hear that the Hellraiser series is made up of a whopping ten movies.

Truth be told, the first two pictures are great, the third is decent, and the fourth is surprisingly passable. After that, though, the franchise largely went off a cliff, as highlighted by the fact that only the first four films were given a theatrical release.

In terms of where things are right now with Hellraiser, the property is being revamped for both the big and small screens.

On the movie front, Spyglass Media brought Batman Begins scribe David S. Goyer on board in 2019 to pen a Hellraiser reboot that was formally described as a "loyal, evolved reimagining" at that time. Since then, The Night House trio of David Bruckner, Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski have joined the project - with Bruckner to direct, while Collins and Piotrowski flesh out a finalised script.

Arguably even more exciting for the Hellraiser property, is that HBO is currently at work on a TV series for Pinhead and his Cenobites. Godzilla: King of the Monsters' Michael Dougherty and Falling Skies' Mark Verheiden are on writing duties for this Hellraiser TV show, with the 2018 Halloween's David Gordon Green confirmed to direct several episodes of the series. Dougherty, Verheiden and Green are also all serving as executive producers on this project.
