10 Steps To Perfectly Bring Dr. Doom To The MCU

Dr Doom MCU
Marvel Comics

Instead of Dr. Doom's entire past history being completely invented out of the blue (or worse, ignored all together), he instead has a strong connection to the Avengers before he ever even meets any of them.

Not only was his rise to power directly the result of the Avengers actions (that would make a hefty emotional payoff in a future film), but it also gives him connections with many heroes beyond just the Fantastic Four.

His mother's attendance of Kamar-Taj, and Doom's use of magic connects him with Dr. Strange. Iron Man is responsible for Doom's rise in multiple ways. By leading and originating from Sokovia, Doom is associated with Scarlet Witch. Using Captain America as a fear tactic links Doom with the former Avenger.

If the past two attempts at bringing Dr. Doom to the big screen have taught us nothing else, it's that capturing all of his nuances is important to his character. He cannot simply be a jealous rich guy as played by Julian McMahon, or a... faceless robot as played by Toby Kebbell. Doom is shaped by his past and his desire to save those he cares about, while also being arrogant enough to believe that he is the only one that can.

Or, you know, he'll just show up with a metal face and force lightning powers again.

How would you place Dr. Doom within the MCU? Do you think the third time is the charm? Let us know in the comments!
