10 Stinking 2016 Movies That Scored 0% On Rotten Tomatoes
4. The Disappointments Room
In some kind of test to see how many horror tropes he could cram into one movie, director D. J. Caruso’s The Disappointments Room stars Kate Beckinsale as a grieving mother who moves into a creepy old rural house with her husband and young son after the tragic death of her infant daughter.
Inevitably, the house is haunted by old-timey spooks and predictably as per the title is also home to a ‘disappointments room’ – an attic room where intolerant folk of yesteryear would hide kids with disabilities away from the rest of the world so they didn’t bring shame on their family. But the only truly disappointing thing here is the film itself.
It wasn’t just a massive critical failure either. It flopped massively at the box office too earning an abysmal $2.4 million against its $15 million budget and ended up getting dropped from all but 36 of the 1,500+ cinemas screening it by its third week in theatres. Ouch.
