5. Click - Best Makeup (2007)
This movie isnt nearly as terrible as people make it out to be. There is an outstanding scene where Adam Sandler freezes time and lays waste to his douchebag boss David Hasselhoff. And aside from Sandlers mediocrity, Henry Winkler and/or Christopher Walken are always okay in my book, but man oh man why did it get nominated for make up? The academy seems fascinated with fat suits. Sandler ends with a remote that can freeze/fast forward/rewind time which results in him clicking his life away. For some stupid reason or another he ends up becoming fat. So the makeup artists slapped him into a fat suit and the academy ate it up. Basically its a terrible reason to put someone in fat suit and it just gives a makeup artist something to do. What else should have been nominated that year instead of this oddball choice? Just about anything: The Queen, Devil Wears Prada, The Illusionist- any of these movies would have been more suitable nominations. Helen Mirren disappears into her role as Queen Elizabeth II with the help of makeup (although I credit most of that performance to her incredible talent), and David Bowie was unrecognisable as Tesla in the Prestige. So it makes very little sense why a mediocre movie such as Click would be nominated for the most prestigious movie award there is. I mean... you might as well nominate Jack and Jill.
