Peter Quill's strength is a difficult one to gauge in the MCU, as it has differed greatly throughout his time in the franchise.

In Guardians of the Galaxy, though he was a bad ass space bandit, he wasn't gifted with any powers, he was just a half-human with some fancy guns. It wasn't until Volume 2 that Quill learned of his father's genes within him, and that half of him was Celestial. As Ego put it, he was a god with a little g.

Unlike any of his other children, Ego's power passed down to Peter, and the light within him granted power of unimaginable strength. Star Lord could manipulate matter, create almost anything out of nothing with enough practice, and could essentially turn himself into a huge, unstoppable avatar through which he could fight. Imagine Thanos coming up against a 50 foot tall Pac-Man!

However, when he killed his father, a being that had lived for eons, this power left Peter, relegating him back to relying almost exclusively on his guns and weapons. Though he may not have the same abilities any more, at his strongest, Star Lord was unimaginably powerful.
