10 Stupid Arguments About Chris Nolan That Don't Make Sense

4. Interstellar Gets Too Trippy

Once again, this is one of those €œit's too confusing!€ arguments €“ which have already been confirmed as total gubbins €“ combined with a sort of scoffing €œbut didn't you say...€ rhetoric employed when trying to do down the Batman films. A big song and dance was made about how scientifically accurate Interstellar was, with reference to the involvement of theoretical physicist Kip Thorne in the film. Thorne certainly advised on both the original pitch (when the film was going to be directed by Steven Spielberg, fact fans) and the finished film, which takes place in the not-so-distant-future but still makes some broad predictions about where humanity and technology are going to wind up. Which people are mostly fine with, believing all the jargon and relativity stuff. It's when the film goes full Space Odyssey during the final act that people have a problem. The thing is, that's probably where Thorne had the most involvement, advising €“ theoretically, after all €“ on what a four-dimensional space beyond a black hole would look like. It's fringe science, perhaps, but still science, as grounded as all the NASA stuff. Sort of.
