10 Stupid Moments In Christopher Nolan Films

9. Harvey Dent's Press Conference (The Dark Knight)

The Dark Knight This scene in The Dark Knight is supposed to be one fraught with tension, as District Attourney Harvey Dent announces that he is Batman in order to stop the Joker from killing anymore people, and also to protect the real identity of Batman. However, it's hard to pay attention to this when the scene seems to be chock full of reject extras who should have been given their marching orders as soon as they tried a line reading. One shouts out "Things are worse than ever!" in the most stilted, laughable, cringe-inducingly unnatural manner possible, and then a cop follows up by saying "No more dead cops!", which again is just something nobody would actually say in real life. Trying to concentrate on what Dent is saying when you're doubled over laughing at the horrendous performances Nolan actually let into his film is a tough demand; it's not like the film needed the dialogue - even if Nolan didn't realise until the edit that something was wrong, he could have easily cut them out.
