10 Superhero Movies That Changed Comic Book Characters Forever
1. Big Hero 6 - Big Hero 6
Big Hero 6 flew under the radar of most Marvel fans due to it being such an obscure property on its release. When adapting the gang for the animated movie, many changes were considered for the characters.
In the comics, Hiro Takachiho looked up to the Japanese hero, Sun-Fire, and due to his supposed death, and kidnapping of Hiro's mother, by The Everwraith, Hiro accepted the invitation to join the government superhero group, Big Hero 6.
One of the bigger departures the film made was with Hiro Hamada's robot guardian, Baymax. In the comics, he was created entirely by Hiro, and was able to morph into a dragon to protect his creator. In the movie, to sell toys, Baymax was changed into a big white pillow with Isuzu bell shaped facial features. They threw away his intimidating look, and went for a gentler presence, which explains the usage of soft robotics. Tadashi Hamada, Hiro's brother, engineered this version of the robot, and Hiro continued fine tuning it after the tragic death of his brother, in order to honour him.
Alongside Hiro, and Baymax, there are Fred, GoGo, Wasabi, and Honey Lemon who form Big Hero 6. Their animated versions are all scientists however, being colleagues of Tadashi. They join Hiro in avenging his brother, because they sympathise with his frustration.
This specific collection of characters now have their own comic, acting as a sequel to the movie. So it wouldn't be divisive to say that this interpretation will be effecting far future Big Hero 6 storylines.
