10 Superhero Movies That Defined Other Superhero Movies

You don't have to be a genius to work out which movie this one influenced.

The Avengers was the culmination of the MCU's first phase of films, beautifully positioning itself as the end of one story and the beginning of another. In doing so, it brought all of the shared universe's respective heroes together and, more importantly, was the first time that Marvel's greatest heroes united on the big screen.

When you look at it like that, it's no surprise that it became the roaring success that it was. And it's pretty clear that this success influenced the world's other most famous comic company to do the same.

The following year, Warner Bros. announced that it would be kick-starting its own shared universe of DC superheroes, introducing Batman and Wonder Woman into the world that was already established in the Superman film, Man of Steel. This all built towards an endgame of its own in Justice League - a movie that saw DC's greatest superheroes unite on the big screen for the very first time.

Unfortunately, it seemed that Warner Bros. was so influenced by The Avengers' success that they didn't put in the proper planning, as they rushed their way towards Justice League without laying the appropriate groundwork. In the end, it just couldn't compare with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
