10 Superhero Teams Who Deserve A Movie After Guardians Of The Galaxy

6. The Runaways

Teen movies are big business at the box office. For all its flaws, the Twilight franchise was hugely successful and worldwide adoration for the Hunger Games series shows no sign of slowing down. Furthermore, superhero movies are also the most popular they have ever been. Now, I'm not a marketing genius, but I have a sneaking suspicion that a superhero teen movie may have an edge in the competitive comic book movie market if handled right. If only such a thing were possible... ah, wait! The Runaways started out as a group of six youngsters who spied on their parents and discovered that they were in fact a criminal group of mob bosses, wizards, scientists, mutants, time travelers and aliens known as The Pride. In rebellion, the kids stole resources from their parents and realized that they had inherited similar powers, which they used to band together and defeat The Pride. The Runaways origin story is refreshingly concise in a world of convoluted comic book movies that feel the need to pay homage to decades of continuity. The teams approach to super heroics is also unusual, in that the Runaways stopped using code names early on in the comics and none of them wear costumes either. What's key about the potential success of the Runaways as a movie though is that they are extremely relatable characters for teenagers everywhere, fighting to establish their own identities separate to that of their parents. Rumors of a Runaways movie have circulated for some time now and while some may see an adaptation based on this little known property as a risk, the same could have easily been said about the Guardians of the Galaxy and that looks set to be a huge hit this year. If the Runaways don't make it to the big screen though, then Marvel could always consider filming a Power Pack movie aimed at younger children. Now that would be seriously cute!
