10 Superhero Teams Who Deserve A Movie After Guardians Of The Galaxy

5. The Legion Of Super-Heroes

Starting out as a backing group for Superboy in the 1950's, the Legion of Super-Heroes soon became one of the premier teams in DC Comics. What set them apart from every other group on this list is that while they occasionally appear in the present day continuity, the Legion of Super-Heroes actually hail from the 30th and 31st century of the DC universe. Founding members Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy and Saturn Girl are the core unit of the team, but dozens of recruits have been and gone in the teams five decade long history, ranging from the awesome to the just plain ridiculous. For every Brainiac 5 or Chameleon Boy, there's also a Bouncing Boy and the now infamous Matter-Eater Lad, who can just basically eat anything and... that's it. Genuinely. That's his power. The futuristic space setting of the Legion would be unique among the throngs of superhero movies based in 21st century America and the sheer volume of members would provide screenwriters with a huge selection of characters to draw upon. The animated television series proved that the formula could be successful if the focus is kept tight on a smaller number of key members, but the possibility to open this up wide in future sequels mean that a Legion of Super-Heroes franchise could potentially have more longevity than many of the other teams on this list. If Guardians of the Galaxy is as popular as Marvel hope, DC may want to produce their own space set franchise and the Legion of Super-Heroes would be their best shot of making that a success.
