10 Supposedly Badass Film Moments (That Were Totally Underwhelming)

2. The Final Battle - Glass

David Dunn Dead
Universal

Glass isn't the first film to fall foul of the curse of the film threequel, but that doesn't mean that the third part of this independent superhero trilogy gets off lightly for being a bit off a disappointment, and the problem largely concerns the films climactic clash.

The stage is set for The Beast and David Dunn's poncho wearing hero to battle it out in front of the world, whilst the architect of it all, Mr Glass, lies permanently crippled and dying in front of them both.

But in a rare moment of weakness, the Beast's personality shifts and he is mortally wounded from out of nowhere, dying just as David Dunn is hastily drowned in a puddle of water in front of his screaming son, making the whole ending actually genuinely shocking but, incredibly unfulfilling.

The biggest issue lies in the fact that rather than this simply being a film about individuals who carry latent special abilities that are emerging into society, the film in it's ending chooses to be a conspiracy theory instead, one aimed at snuffing out these peoples existence in order to preserve the status quo.

The fact this happens in the dying minutes deflates all hype and expectation that the film had built up before its release at seeing these three incredible, original characters that no one had ever anticipated seeing on-screen together, only for them to be offed, is quite upsetting for all those who sat through the build-up to this moment for no payoff.

Sam Ring hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
