10 Supposedly Badass Film Moments (That Were Totally Underwhelming)

1. The Blofeld Reveal - Spectre

The biggest problem with this reveal? EVERYONE knew it was coming from the off and it still managed to disappoint.

Casting Christoph Waltz as one of the Bond franchise's most iconic villains was a genius move that no one could argue with. But an entire film is wasted establishing Waltz as the villain when anyone and everyone could tell you he was going to be revealed as the big, bad (and not bald at all) Blofeld.

The moment itself is as painfully drawn out as Bond's drill-to-the-head torture method he endures whilst Blofeld reveals his adopted alias. There is little to no real impact from the reveal, and the fact that Bond is able to outwit and escape Blofeld so easily almost straight after just hammers home how poorly handled the reveal, character, and the entire film was.

Waltz could have spent the entire film off-screen then shown up in that single scene to reveal himself and it would probably have had more impact. Instead, the film plays cat and mouse, conjuring up an unnecessary backstory that sees Bond and Blofeld as sort-of-step-brothers, and basically makes the character's addition feel so forced it would have been better if the film just ended right there.

Sam Ring hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
