10 Supposedly Formidable Film & TV Characters Who Sucked In A Fight

2. Doomsday And Darkseid (Smallville)

Doomsday Smallville Wow! Was this a big let-down, and I had very low expectations for this character given the history of the show. Doomsday was a major villain for Superman, I mean he actually kills the hero. I guess the best way to adapt this character for the big screen was to have a guy in a rubber bodysuit get "super-carried" (because Clark didn't fly much at all in this series) into a layer under the Earth's surface where Doomsday is eternally trapped and therefore never referenced again by anyone. The action sequence for this used recycled explosion footage from previous episodes and pretty much killed the series for me, and it was a guilty pleasure before then. One of the greatest villains in comic books gets carried off to a subterranean layer (mostly off camera) by a pre-Superman Clark Kent. They should not have attempted this. To reiterate what I said at the beginning, I'm not attacking the production value here. I'm mentioning it as it's awful but it's the fate of the villain that I'm highlighting. Finale09 Equally awful was the series treatment of Darkseid and his disciples. Clark defeats Darkseid by flying really fast at him and causes him to disappear into a puff of smoke. Similarly, Green Arrow defeated the superhuman disciples of Darkseid by shooting them with arrows and they disappeared the same way, because they were ghosts too? Brilliant.

Arthur Clarke hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
