5. The Monuments Men
What Is It: During World War 2, The Monuments Men follows a crew of art aficionados banding together to preserve various exotic artistic values from Nazi hands and destruction. Who knew Hitler hated art so much? Not only is it a refreshing spin on the war genre, the cast is packed with star power including George Clooney himself, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Jean Dujardin, and John Goodman.
Why It Could Win: George Clooney has proven himself as both an incredible actor and lately a worthy director with films including political thriller The Ides of March. While a trailer for this one also has not yet been revealed, the talent surrounding the project and premise is reason enough to qualify for this list. Heres a little fun fact too; John Goodman has acted in the previous two Best Picture winning films (Argo and The Artist). If anything else there should be some award worthy and very impressive set designs and costumes accurately depicting the harrowing and tense tone of World War 2.
