10 Surprising MCU Phase 4 Decisions No One Saw Coming
8. Marvel's First Animated TV Series
Marvel TV shows have been a thing since shortly after The Avengers was released, but as they were produced by Jeph Loeb's "Marvel Television," they've only ever really been loosely connected to the wider MCU. With the launch of Disney+, though, everything has changed and Kevin Feige is now in charge of these small screen stories.
That looks set to result in big budget fare like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision, but who could have ever guessed that we would get an animated series? For starters, it's definitely outside of Marvel Studios' wheelhouse, but based on everything we've seen from What If?, it all all the makings of something very special indeed.
Like the comic books it's named after, What If? will delve into alternate worlds where the lives of these characters played out much differently. For example, we'll get an episode featuring a Peggy Carter who took the super soldier serum, and another revealing what would have happened had T'Challa been the one abducted by Yondu's Ravagers!
A project like this is not one we would have ever predicted, but it is one which seems perfectly suited to the newly launched Disney+ streaming service.
