10 Surprising MCU Phase 4 Decisions No One Saw Coming

7. A New Captain America (Who Isn't The Falcon)

The prospect of a TV series revolving around The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was always a fun one given their unique love/hate (hate/hate?) dynamic, but following Avengers: Endgame's emotional ending, it seemed like a certainty that the show would be renamed Captain America and The Winter Soldier. As it turns out that hasn't happened.

Much to the surprise of, well, everyone, Sam Wilson will decide not to follow in Steve Rogers' footsteps, and that means the U.S. Government decides to appoint their own Captain America: Wyatt Russell's John Walker. Better known as U.S. Agent in the comic books, he's not exactly stable, and no doubt easily manipulated by someone like Baron Zemo.

So, yeah, heading into The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, it seems fair to say that none of us would have pictured the MCU's new Cap being this guy. Common sense says that Sam will change his mind and wield the shield just like Steve wanted, but that could be too obvious an outcome, so who knows how things will play out here.
