10 Surprising MCU Phase 4 Decisions No One Saw Coming
5. Sam Raimi Takes The Helm Of Doctor Strange 2
This one is crazy.
Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson signed on to take the helm of Doctor Strange in the Madness of the Multiverse shortly after the first instalment's release, but creative differences recently led to the filmmaker deciding to walk away from the project. However, it didn't take long for Marvel Studios to find a replacement: Sam Raimi!
He helmed the original three Spider-Man movies, and it's fair to say we never expected him to return to the world of comic book adaptations after his negative experience working on the third instalment of the wall-crawler's first trilogy. However, Kevin Feige has somehow convinced him to pick up where Derrickson left off, and that's truly mind-blowing.
After all, it's never an enviable task for a filmmaker to board a project this late in the day, but you have to believe Raimi will bring some of his own ideas to the table, and that's exciting for a lot of reasons. Now, we just have to hope this exploration of the Multiverse leads to a cameo appearance from Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man!
