Spider-Man: Far From Home served as the final chapter in Marvel's Phase 3 and ended on a huge cliffhanger when Mysterio outed the web-slinger's secret identity to the world. Shortly after it was released, we learned that Disney and Sony's deal to share the character had fallen apart, and that meant Spidey was set to return to Sony's own Marvel Universe.

Fans understandably panicked, but a considerable amount of backlash ultimately led to the two studios deciding to strike a new financial deal which means that the character will be part of both the MCU and "SUMC." Most importantly, this means Marvel Studios has creative control over the Far From Home sequel and that big identity reveal.

For a while, though, it didn't appear as if that was going to happen. On the one hand, it meant Spider-Man would be able to meet characters like Venom and Morbius but, on the other...well, it's no secret that Sony Pictures has screwed up this hero on multiple occasions in the past. As a result, Spider-Man 3 happening in the form it is remains a shocker!
