10 Surprising Things Sixties Batman Shares With The Dark Knight

9. A Proper Cat Suit

The last big screen Catwoman before Nolan came on the scene was, well, Halle Berry's terrible take in the spin-off film in the same name. Her costume was probably the least of that film's worries (the script and magic cats were the worst), but the leather bra, cat hat and torn trousers look was not good. It was about as traditional as the previous one, though. Michelle Pfeiffer's kinky, stitched-together black PVC catsuit from Tim Burton's Batman Returns didn't have a whole lot in common with the comic book outfits Selina Kyle wore, either, iconic though it was. Anne Hathaway's outfit in The Dark Knight Rises, though? That seems familiar... Not PVC, not as exposed as Halle Berry's outfit, but instead an all-in one skintight black catsuit that isn't shiny, looks more like something people would actually wear, and incorporates some practical boots and subtle ears. Sounds an awful like Julie Newmar's get up in the sixties Batman series, doesn't it? Yes, it does. Got you again, Nolan. Or Nolan's costume designer, anyway.
