10 Surprising Ways Thor & Buffy The Vampire Slayer Mirror Each Other

1. Both Saved The World With A Bunch Of Mere Mortals

Selvig Giles In the very recent movie Thor: The Dark World, Thor returned to Earth in an attempt to stop Malekith from plunging the entire universe in to darkness using the Infinity Stone known as the Aether. Whilst fighting the leader of the Dark Elves, the combatants were being plunged across the Nine Realms through a series of portals that had opened as a result of the event known as the Convergence - a rare alignment of all of the aforementioned realms. As formidable as Thor is, he required the help of his human friends to fully win this battle. His mortal comrades used their scientific equipment to transport Malekith to Svartalfheim, where he was killed before he could destroy the universe. Similarly, prior to saving the world alongside an army of fellow slayers, Buffy had saved the world several times before - sometimes relying on the help of her human allies to do so. For example, in season six when Willow went rogue, after having battled her using her slayer powers, it came down to Xander getting through to Willow on an emotional level to stop her from destroying the world. Also, in the battle against Glory in season five, even though Buffy killed herself to close the portal that was merging Earth with a hell dimension, it was down to Giles to kill Ben - Glory's alter-ego - to stop her from coming back and making her friends pay for her defeat. And, in season one, when Buffy had been killed by the Master, it was down to Xander to bring her back to life using CPR in order for her to defeat him once and for all and prevent him from opening the Hellmouth.
