Sometimes in comic book movies a casting choice comes from out of nowhere and though it may seem a bit random you instantly realise it is sheer perfection. Frasier Crane as Beast is so fitting it boggles the mind and only adds to the travesty that his only appearance (apart from his cameo in Days of Future Past) has been in the deplorable X-Men: The Last Straw.

Kelsey Grammar can play the sophisticated and somewhat pompous intellectual in his sleep, he'd been doing it for 20 years. Add some blue make-up and you've got a Beast that jumps right from the pages of the comic. Grammar could have just played blue Frasier and it would have been fine, but he goes a step further and imbues the character with the vulnerability and isolation that makes the character such a stand-out.

The film around him is pretty terrible and ultimately what lead to the soft reboot with Days of Future Past, but wherever the franchise goes they need to bring back Beast-Frasier. The casting and performance are too perfect to leave behind.
