If you take movies at face value, incapacitating someone with a sedative is incredibly easy - you simply soak a rag in chloroform or inject the mark with a random amount of your chosen sleepy-time compound.

But Michael Bay's Pain and Gain - a film which adapts true events incredibly loosely - presents a startlingly realistic depiction of what's probably more likely to happen when people with no medicinal experience start messing around with sedatives.

In the chaotic third act, Krisztina Furton (Keili Lefkovitz) pulls a gun on the main characters after finding her husband brutally killed. In an attempt to pacify her, Adrian Doorbal (Anthony Mackie) sticks her with two shots of horse tranquiliser, which seems to have the required calming effect.

A few minutes later, however, Doorbal realises that he's given Krisztina an overdose, and she's stone cold dead with no possibility of resuscitation.

Ironically, however, in the real-life crime Furton was intentionally overdosed with horse tranquiliser to kill her after she stopped co-operating. Gnarly.
