5.The Saragossa Manuscript (1965)

Director: Wojciech Jerzy Has Based on the novel The Manuscript Found In Saragossa by Jan Potocki, The Saragossa Manuscript is a frame narrative that details the adventures of Alphonso van Worden, a traveller of the Sierra Morena Mountains who is plagued by evil spirits and cultists. After being tricked into drinking from a mystical goblet, Alphonso is rendered unconscious only to awake surrounded by skeletons under a gallows. The second half of the film is divided into smaller parts as Alphonso is told several stories by other characters, stories that intertwine with one another to paint a much larger picture. In order to comprehend the film fully, multiple viewings are recommended.
