10 Talented Actors Who Just Can't Seem To Make A Good Film

8. Colin Farrell

No. Of "Rotten" Films In Past 5 Years: 6 Colin Farrell has been in a few worthy films across the span of his career, but he's rarely at the centre of them, playing supporting roles or bit parts that had no real effect on the overall quality (Saving Mr. Banks, to name but one). Even Farrell's new-ish "good" movies (The Way Back or Fright Night) are average at best. In Bruges is the one exception to the rule. What's become increasingly obvious in recent years is that Farrell seems incapable of being in a truly good movie that is really his own; the guy seems to attract bad projects by the boatload, not to mention that audiences don't seem too keen on him in general. He's something akin to box office poison - at least according to the low-gross of his movies. Thing is, given the right material, Colin Farrell can act. To go back to In Bruges, there's a film that proves that Farrell is a great actor; better yet, it proves that he can be the best thing in a motion picture if it's the right motion picture. Instead, Farrell just seems to be going through the motions with a succession of arbitrary action films such as Total Recall and Dead Man Down, and ill-judged period dramas like Winter's Tale and Miss Julie. Even HBO's True Detective couldn't save him - and surely he thought that it would?
