10 Teased Movie Endings That Frustratingly Never Happened

9. Michael Dies...For Good - Halloween (2018)

Last year's table-clearing Halloween sequel finally brought the iconic horror franchise back into solid repute, delivering easily the best film in the series since the 1978 original.

And with the marketing promising a definitive final showdown between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), it honestly felt like Universal might have the balls to finally end Michael Myers' story once and for all.

This certainly seems to be implied at the end of the movie, when Laurie manages to trap Michael in the basement of her booby-trapped home, after which she sets it on fire and leaves him to burn to death.

It was a fitting "gotcha!" ending that brought Michael and Laurie's decades-long beef to a satisfying conclusion except, of course, this wasn't where the story ended.

The final moments of the movie show glimpses of an empty basement, suggesting Michael has somehow escaped the fire to stalk another day.

And with two more Halloween sequels imminently set to shoot back-to-back, there's justifiable fear from fans that the franchise might fall into its familiar patterns of mediocrity.

Though it's definitely a bit naive to expect any studio to kill off a genre icon like Michael Myers for good - especially with the 2018 movie's stonking box office success - it sure would've been an integrity move.

Do we really need more and more of these films until we're sick of them again?
