1. Battleship
Most people have an internal sensor in their brain that tells them to stop doing something that could do harm, dangerous and irresponsible things like drinking bleach or putting your hand in a fire. For some odd reason that sensor found in the brains of the creative team behind Battleship was turned off for months, as they decided to go ahead and make a feature film based upon a board game and cast Rhianna in a pivotal role. In what surely was an opportunity to cash grab at a possible franchise, director Peter Berg and company made one of 2012's most ridiculous films and one of the worst reviewed films of the year. Cliches, tin ear dialogue and lackluster CG are sadly some of the film's better qualities as Battleship seems below par for even the lowest of Hollywood low. Produced for over $200 million (and once again mysteriously featuring Liam Neeson), Battleship was deemed a fiasco at the box office, bringing in a lower than expected $300 million. That being said, the film did enjoy establishing a camp appeal for its brash approach at board game film-making, and although Universal would probably not shell out another $200 million on a sequel, with a little re-tooling and cost cutting there is little doubt this Battleship is sunk quite yet.
