10 Terrible 2014 Films That Tricked Us With Awesome Posters

7. Into The Storm

Why The Poster Works: No one was expecting Into The Storm to be a masterpiece, but a fun trailer promised over the top action and some crazy destruction which hadn't been seen on the big screen before. That was supported by posters like this - there's no way anyone could walk past this one in their local cinema without their attention being grabbed. The epic sight of a tornado wreaking havoc possibly would have been enough, but throw fire into the mix and it looks even more deadly and terrifying. The woman looking on seems a bit out of place, but in many ways just heightens the urgency and fear one would feel upon seeing that twister. Why The Movie Sucked: Like a lot of other recent disaster movies, the special effects simply weren't enough to overcome Into The Storm's many other issues. The weak story, far-fetched plot, and mediocre acting (why was The Hobbit's Richard Armitage wasting his time here?) all killed its momentum quicker than a fiery tornado killed one of the movie's hapless characters. As it turns out, 90+ minutes of watching a storm unfold really isn't all that exciting, and the set-piece featured on the poster above was one of Into The Storm's few highlights. It's a shame too, as a better screenplay could have resulted in something really unique and special.
