10 Terrible 2014 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween
4. Ouija
The Pitch: Because Transformers, G.I. Joe and Battleship have proven the success of adapting Hasbro toys into movies (alright, not so much Battleship), they've decided to adapt their immensely popular game Ouija. It's also produced by Michael Bay and written by the minds responsible for Boogeyman, Knowing and The Possession. Oh boy. Why It Sucked: One of the year's worst-reviewed mainstream horror films (scoring just 10% on Rotten Tomatoes), Ouija was widely criticised for delivering a tick-list of horror movie cliches without being scary whatsoever. With poor acting and sloppy writing doing little to lighten the load, Ouija might do the job for 12-year-olds looking for a few jumps and giggles, but for anyone else, it's just too tame to be anything more than interminably boring. Will There Be A Sequel?: After one weekend, without being released internationally, Ouija has already made almost five-fold its budget, so yes, expect a sequel rushed out within the next 18 months or so, and given how much could probably be cynically milked out of the premise, perhaps even a franchise too.
