10 Terrible 2017 Films That Will Get Sequels Anyway

1. Bright

Transformers The Last Knight
Netflix

Will Smith's Netflix collaboration Bright was original, if nothing else. It tried its best to blend fantasy, gritty cop drama and social commentary, only to fail miserably on all three fronts.

That was the critical consensus and the movie ended up with a review score of just 27% on Rotten Tomatoes and 29 on Metacritic. Those numbers don't seem to have stopped people from streaming it, though.

What's more, a high percentage of those who ignored the critics and gave Bright a go seemed to have liked it. The movie's audience score on Rotten Tomatoes stands at 87% and it earned a 7.3 on Metacritic.

Netflix seems to be ignoring the critics too as the streaming giant has already announced a sequel to Bright in a move that serves as a staunch defence of the reported $90 million the firm invested in the original.

The company is renowned for guarding its viewing figures, so there's know way of determining exactly how many people have streamed Bright to date, but it's safe to assume Netflix wouldn't have greenlit a second instalment if it wasn't confident its customers would lap it up.
