10 Terrible 2017 Films That Will Get Sequels Anyway

6. Fifty Shades Darker

Transformers The Last Knight
Universal Pictures

Fifty Shades Darker aspired to be kinky, but really this was just punishment.

After the fumbling foreplay of the first movie, this was nothing but limp dissatisfaction, devoid of inter-cast chemistry and a messy rehash of every cliche in the thriller book.

Even the smut fans who enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey must have been disappointed by the toned-down love scenes and dialled up weirdness, but nothing short of a box office disaster was going to derail Universal's plans to adapt the next book.

A haul of $381.1 million certainly doesn't quality as one of those, so Fifty Shades Freed is set to wrap up the trilogy next month, for better or for worse.
