10 Terrible 2017 Films That Will Get Sequels Anyway
5. Jigsaw
Horror enjoyed a minor resurgence in 2017, with Get Out proving a critical smash and It: Chapter One raising the bar for the Stephen King adaptation. The Saw series also came roaring back to life with its eighth instalment Jigsaw landing on Halloween.
Jigsaw had nowhere near the same impact as Get Out or It. The sequel was trashed by critics, for starters, but it was profitable, proving there's still a market for Tobin Bell's trap-happy villain John Kramer.
The film made $102.9 million off a budget of $10 million, and according to Bloody Disgusting, those figures have placed a ninth instalment close to early development.
Twisted Pictures has reportedly held early talks about another Saw sequel, although Jigsaw's co-directors the Spierig Brothers are not said to have been part of them.
